Yakyn was bred in Ukraine, born in 2009.  She raced in Pyatigorsk, where she was second in the Oaks and was second and third in some other races.  The most important thing is that she has stayed completely sound (in her legs and otherwise).  She is easy to handle but active.  She would be good prospect for endurance, as she really likes to move and is confident of herself (likes to gallop in the field and has become the alpha mare in the herd).  

Her maternal grandfather Alaman was a breed (World) Champion.  His father Polot has sired many good sires of successful racehorses (Piastr, Feysal, Amuzgi).  Her father Karakum was a fairly successful horse on his own (won some important prizes as 2-years old), but he was bought off the track in the middle of his 3-years old season, so did not compete in the Derby.
